This session will explore the theory, practice, design and current practices of experiential learning across Georgetown and, in particular, at the Capitol Applied Learning Labs (CALL). For students, experiential learning involves ‘learning through doing' through varying degrees of engagement, immersion, and reflection. For faculty, experiential learning means creating courses that are intentionally designed to engage students in connecting course concepts to applicable professional contexts and real-world situations while explicitly and continuously reflecting on their significance and relevance. This workshop will explore all facets of experiential learning at Georgetown including simulations, place-based fieldwork, internships, and expert interactions. Participants will engage in hands-on activities as well as interact with colleagues implementing experiential learning practices at GU.

This session will be facilitated by Susannah McGowan (Red House), Doireann Renzi (CNDLS), Melissa Bernard (CALL), and Randy Bass (Red House). It will be held in-person in the HFSC, as well as streamed via Zoom.
